What is good in 2023- Cattelan Itlaia? The Cremona model is a refined composition of materials in which wood and ceramic come together to create a unique and unforgettabledesigner sideboard. The designers have subverted the classic design rules whereby the heaviest-looking elements are placed at the bottom. In fact, the main wooden body is positioned at the top, above an open shelf. This creates an open space that seems to make the sideboard float gracefully, despite its sturdy appearance.#design #cremona #cattelanitalia2023 #cremonasideboard #thedesigngalleryea #thedesigngallerykaren #bespokefurniture #luxuryliving #italianluxuryliving

One Side Sawn is a furniture collection built from a single sheet of aluminum 'crust' – an offcut of the smelting process."The edges are jagged and rough, resulting in rugged forms that are like byproducts of some brute industrial process," explains Studio ThusThat. "The back of the plates still show traces of the giant factory saws from which they were cut, while the front reveals the metal's molten origins." This Dutch studio is highlighting the urgent need to rethink our approach to design. "In an era of finite materials and energy crises,” says Studio Thus, "getting familiar with the aesthetics of secondary and rougher materials is important – as they may one day become the norm."To walk the talk, the designers aim to utilize one sheet without producing any waste. This involves carefully mapping the cutting pattern in advance. Each straight cut creates a piece with a wavy edge, informing the shape of the resulting object. In this way, each item is made from offcuts from previous pieces, thereby reducing waste.By celebrating the beauty of roughness and imperfection, while exploring industrial processes and metal-mining waste streams, One Side Sawn demonstrates a more circular and sustainable approach to design. #mebltransformingfurniture#sustainablefurniture#industrialdesign Kevin Rouff Paco Böckelmann
